While virtual lactation consults are very helpful, there will be times that I may refer you or your baby to a local health professional. These cases may include:
- Suspected tongue-tie or other oral malformation (we can review possible signs of tongue & lip tie, but a full oral assessment may not be possible)
- Mastitis, thrush and other breastfeeding concerns requiring medical treatment (we can support you through this, but you will need to seek additional support from your medical practitioner)
- Concerns with weight gain, jaundice and/or general well-being of the infant (if there are concerns about your baby/toddler's physical well-being, you should contact your health provider immediately or go to your nearest emergency department)
