Let’s face it – being mom 24/7 is hard, and no amount of macaroni pasted on a card will make it easier. This Mother’s Day, let’s cut the crap and get down to what every mom needs this mother’s day.

This Mother's Day (1)

To Be Left Alone.

And not just for a measly part of a day, people.

A whole day of luxurious, unadulterated alone time to do with as you please.

I don’t care if your husband takes your kids on a whirlwind adventure which includes enough junk to occlude a carotid artery followed by an activity that has a high probability of complete catastrophe, no matter to you.

This is your day, mama.

Just smile and wave. Buh-bye!

To Do What She Pleases.

Do you love watching sappy movies on Netflix, but your hubby always complains when you try to put one on?

Do you love drinking your favourite glass of wine, with music blaring while soaking in the tub but your toddler keeps waking up when he hears the water turn on?

Do you love reading up on the latest celebrity gossip while sitting in your kitchen eating cereal in your underwear, but apparently that behaviour is frowned upon, according to your neighbours?

Wait…What?

No matter.

Mother’s Day is the day to do it!

No judgement.

No looks of disdain!

…But you may want to close your curtains.

Take Out.

It’s mother’s day. You don’t want to have to cook, feed, clean up or even think of what you’re going to have for dinner. As a mom who must tell your preschooler to keep eating 267 times all the while dodging food being flung by your toddler, the last thing you will want to do is have dinner at a restaurant with them. Doing so would just be asking for an public meltdown of epic proportions!

Someone just needs to open your door, place the take out on the floor, and then runaway.

STAT.

A Clean House.

Nobody enjoys cleaning, especially when you have to do it all day, every day like most mamas do.

This is how this Mother’s Day should go down:

  1. Your partner takes you out for a nice steak dinner the night before Mother’s Day.
  2. Someone cleans your house while you are out for said dinner – and I’m not above child labour or having a cleaning service come in, courtesy of whatever piggy bank in your house is the biggest.
  3. You are left alone in a spotless house!

BAM!

That’s It!

Well folks, that’s all there is – the four things every mom needs this Mother’s Day.

Of course all mama’s love to get the usual breakfast in bed, to go out for brunch, the fresh-cut flowers and to receive boxes of chocolates.

But do you know what ends up happening?

Mom is the one that winds up cleaning the bomb that just went off in her kitchen.

Mom is the one that must deal with corralling the kids while out in public.

Mom is the one to arrange the flowers, put them in the vase, take a picture on Instagram and then throw them out a week later.

Mom is the one who shares her box of chocolates and only gets the leftover ones with orange filling. Yuck.

See what I’m getting at here?

To the moms out there, I urge you to share this with anyone that can make this happen for you on Mother’s Day. Print it out and tape it to your husbands pillow (or forehead for that matter), leave it ever-so-discreetly in his lunch-box, or share this post on your wall and tag away!

Happy Mother’s Day! Have fun, and let me know how it goes in the comment section below.

Yes! We need a damn day to relax and not wear the world on our shoulders. Unfortunately that is not a thing we get.

Hahahahahahahaha! I’m not sure which is funnier – this post (because you’re amazing) or knowing that this probably won’t happen. 🙂 I’m not gonna lie – I’d love to stay in bed all day with a good book and some wine. That would be amazing!

This is so perfect I showed it to my husband, while staring at him, hoping he would get the hint. I’ll have to update you on whether he got the hint, but you completely nailed this! LOVE IT!! #KCACOLS

🙂 So I also paraphrased this to my husband, he’s like. “oh yeah” in other words, not going to happen. But we can all dream, right? I’d take a day at home, with a book and some coffee.I mean one where I don’t leave the house. Great post, thanks for the laugh. #KCACOLS

I’m not going to lie, that would be an awesome Mother’s Day! But, I’m not even sure my husband knows it’s coming up, even though I’ve mentioned it 54683702 times!!
I can’t imagine how it’d feel to have a day off in a beautifully clean home. Probably close to heaven.
I hope you get the perfect Mother’s Day x #KCACOLS

LOVE THIS! Yes to all of the above please. I once dared suggest that the best Mother’s Day would be a morning to myself, just me, a bubble bath and peace. I was told that the whole point of Mother’s Day is that you share it with your kids. Pfffft. #KCACOLS

Mother’s Day was back in Marcb over here and I can confirm that I didn’t get any of the above. In fact, my own mom was like “why don’t you want to spend time with your kids on MOTHER’S DAY?!” as if it was totally horrifying. It’s like, I spend time with my kids every day. Until they learn that today is a day when they don’t get to wipe their snotty nosed on my jumper and throw food at me for entertainment, somebody else can have them on this particular day. Right?!

Brilliant! ONE WHOLE DAY!! This post really made me chuckle. I love the little GIFs too.
Of course, in the UK we had ours a while ago…I did lay in bed and have breakfast in bed and my 9 yr old and 13 yr old had made and bought gifts…

My 9 year old, who knows I have a sponge (as in bath sponge) phobia, placed my gifts in the bottom of a gift bag filled with…SPONGE!!! She is an old person in a young body and too clever for her own good. It did make me laugh though!

    Thanks for sharing. #KCACOLS
